Selling Out and Fizzling Out

What really is selling out?  We all have big ideas and hopes for our life and society, but somehow many of these ideas just seem to fizzle out.  Does life get in the way, do we lose our courage of conviction, is life just too hard, or are the dreams of another place and time?  This year we have seen fellow countrymen in need because of the virus, protests because of police brutality, and a crazy election campaign.  We have mustered up some courage and resources to put our time and money where our dreams are, but some of the energy has drained out due to everything from trying effort to the shaming culture.  How does one endure the courage of conviction, the energy cost, and the blowback while staying hopeful and enthusiastic about the cause?
